Pee-Wee's Playhouse Christmas featuring Grace Jones
SEVERE! Grace Jones guests on Pee-Wee's Playhouse Christmas Special, and performs the holiday classic, "The Little Drummer Boy" back in 1988.
Can you believe Oprah lent herself to this back in the day? Oprah and Charo together at craft service! Lots of "Coochie-Coochie" and "Vajayjay" talk, I'm sure.

A Phil Spector Christmas
He basically started the whole teen music sensation of the early 60s, working with people like The Ronettes, The Righteous Brothers, Ike and Tina Turner, and even The Beatles.
Phil put together an amazing Christmas record featuring a handful of the many great acts he worked with. Some of the nicest and most beautiful renditions of Christmas music, in our opinion, is included on this record.
Check out the lovely Ronettes, along with The Crystals below.

Wham! Vs The Police - Every Christmas You Fake
We're hoping you haven't had your Christmas cheeseball fill yet today. Divide and Kreate threw together this mash of Wham's "Last Christmas" & The Police's "Every Breath You Take". Pure 80's Christmas nostalgia.
Have a listen below, and also find the video for Wham!'s "Last Christmas" too. Just for the sake of it's pure over-acting, major hair, and of course, the forced love interest factor. Enjoy!

Circlesquare - Untitled (For Christmas)
It's wikked!
"Untitled (For Christmas)" sticks out for us, because its not really your typical Christmas song. They go and fuse some dark bass with really lovely lonely-road guitar, and strays far from your traditionally chipper holiday tunes.
And, after not hearing anything from the band since their label Output Recordings folded last year, you can expect to hear alot more from them in 2008. Their forthcoming album is rumoured to be named Songs about Dancing & Drugs, and there are also rumours that they plan to release the record via Ghostly International for America.
Have a listen to the song below. You can also visit their store HERE to get access to CDs/Vinyl that have been long unavailable up until now.

M.I.A. - Paper Planes (Video + Remix)
This was totally the song of the year.
M.I.A. seems to be on everybody's top songs/album-OTY lists for Kala.
If you ever were able to enjoy M.I.A. as an underground artist, you can look back on that, because this will likely catapult her to the next level, and I'm assuming you'll hear her wherever you go. Not that its really a bad thing at all.

A David Hasselhoff Christmas
Ohhh man, this makes us kind of sickish.
Since being here in Germany, we see Knight Rider stickers, and billboards of this guy everywhere. Apparently when the "David Hasselhoff Cheeseburger Video" came out, people here were not pleased. The Hoff is to Germany, as Anne Murray is to Canada. A national treasure.
A major bonus to this gem, is you also get a taste of the angelic voices of his two daughters, Hailey & Taylor Hasselhoff. (One of the same saddened daughters who eventually filmed him, as seen in the video below, and then uploaded the video onto Youtube.)
If you are German and reading this, please have mercy on us. He is your king, we know.

The Beeb Blog's MORE GOOD/LESS SUCK Single Of The Week: Ashlee Simpson - Outta My Head
The Beeb Blog.com has decided to dedicate a section each week, to the songs punishing our airwaves. Songs that we don't want you to have to listen to, so we bravely take on listening to them for you. You can thank us later!
We couldn't think of a better way to break it down for you than to call on ERNOLD SANE, a DJ/promoter/sometimes-writer hailing from the great Canadian white north, and use his famously icey tongue to start things off.
THIS WEEK'S MORE GOOD/LESS SUCK SONG:
Ashlee Simpson - Outta My Head (AY YA YA) produced by Timbaland
At first this song scared the crap out of me. I felt like I was being bullied around by Orphan Annie. I really had to pep myself up to listen to it for a second time. It's completely painful from start to finish, but not in a guilty pleasure way, more like "dry hard rape" kinda way, that you keep to yourself and cry to your cats about.
The best part of the song is when she's singing, "You're talking way too much, I can't even hear me now all your noise is messing with my head " It was like she was reading my mind, but instead of Ashlee Simpson singing, it was this giant pig head dressed in plaid and it was squeeling the lyrics in my hear. That freaked me out a bit coz it was totally unexpected, so I had to picture her as Orphan Annie again.
What I'm getting at is that Ashlee Simpson obviously cannot sing. Even with the amount of effects they use, but she can't really talk either, it's like Peter Brady when his voice is breaking and he's singing the song 'Change'... now that is a tune!
ERNOLD SANE will be playing with Datarock this Friday at the opening of Vancouver's The Biltmore Cabaret. Check out his Myspace to give him a piece of your mind, or for more info!

P. Diddy - Last Night (Chu Fu Remix)
Its not very often you find a video to accompany a remix. Especially when the remix likely isn't an official one.
So add some old footage from the 80's show Graffiti Rock, throw it together with Ch Fu's remix of the Diddy track "Last Night", and YES.
Sooo good, right? It sounds nothing like Diddy, and that a really good thing!

M.I.A. - Jimmy (Video)
"My mum used to hire me out when I was a kid as a party buffer. It was my track that I used to do my routine to. I had a little tape recorder, and a cloak and a cardboard cut out guitar, and that was my joint." Describing the recording and writing processes, she revealed that she had already recorded the strings and other parts of the song in India, but initially didn't attempt to do "Jimmy" when she was with co-producer Switch, explaining "I had to be drunk enough to be that disco. It all came together that week." Arulpragasam wrote the song about an invitation she received from a journalist while working in Liberia, to meet him whilst covering a genocide tour.

The Magnetic Fields - Smoke & Mirrors
The Magnetic Fields may look like your student teachers, but their music is something that stays with you beyond a catchy pop song, or another perfectly constructed Timbaland beat.

Spice Girls - Spice Up Your 64
After having our Facebook bombarded with other people's photo albums of the Spice Girls comeback tour, we find ourselves wondering, what does "SPICE GIRLS 2007" sound like?
--And after all these years, would the amount of added silicon to one's body affect their sound?
I can imagine it would sound something like this:

David Bowie - Helden
Life in LA had left me with an overwhelming sense of foreboding. I had approached the brink of drug induced calamity one too many times and it was essential to take some kind of positive action. For many years Berlin had appealed to me as a sort of sanctuary like situation. It was one of the few cities where I could move around in virtual anonymity. I was going broke; it was cheap to live. For some reason, Berliners just didn't care. Well, not about an English rock singer anyway.- David Bowie
What better way to mark our third week after arriving in wundervoll Berlin, than with a heavily Berlin-related post.
Here is "Helden", Bowie's German take on "Heroes". He recorded the version for Christiane F., a movie about Berlin's drug scene in the 1970s. I've also posted a clip of Bowie in the film performing "Station To Station".
Enjoy:
