The Beeb Blog Presents: THE LOOK OF THE WEEK 006

(click above to enlarge)
So me and my friend Marilis from Montreal's best street style and party photo blog The PregnantGoldfish decided to spend our Saturday afternoon getting drunk and walking around in the streets dancing to music at The Fuck Parade this past weekend. This guy's name is something crazy and Dutch and I can't remember it. Or the rest of that day for that matter. In any case it's a pity the fuck parade was just about music...

The Streets - The Escapist

While Eminem sits comfortably in his high-end trailer eating Kozy Shack straight out of the bin, Mike Skinner is up and about to unleash his Everything Is Borrowed LP.

Rumor has it that this will be The Streets' last effort for a while, hence "The Escapist", we suppose...

NEW MGMT - Kids (Skyve Reuter Edit)

We're like male porn actors here at The Beeb Blog. We work in spurts. But expect more regular posts and more amayzahnjeness in the next while.

Skyve Reuter just sent us his edit of MGMT's Kids — definitely good for the dancefloor and he made the intro DJ-friendly too. So caring!

Tricky - Council Estate (Drums of Death Remix)

Holy fuck.

When it drops, all of a sudden a Seiko electronic metronome sound jumps in and reminds me of playing terrible Grade 1 piano songs, but now I kind of miss them.

Maybe this Drums of Death Remix of Tricky will do something special for you too.

NEW Van She - V

If you've even been a fan of Van She or Van She Tech, you've probably been wondering about or waiting for a recent release from them. It seems like ages since their last album. Their remixes have been peppered throughout the internet and have been met with huge success, and Crystal Castles even took "Sex City" and cut it up for their track "Vanished".

Finally, Van She is ready to release their new album V, which is a combination of the many different forms they take on.

We're more partial to the techtronic Van She Tech, so we were pleased to find the synthier "Temps Mort" on this album, which although is short, is still nice a nice break from the band's other material.

Their hit "Kelly" which was originally released (at least a year ago?), has seemingly taken on the traits of it's Cut Copy remix, and has made it it's own with a bit of a re-recorded twist.

None-the-less, the band is set to follow down the same path which has given their fellow Australian act such major success this year.

You can purchase V on the 9th via MODULAR, & check out their Myspace for upcomings dates!

Have a listen to "Temps Mort" & the new "Kelly" below:

YESTERDAY WAS OUR ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY! HOLLLLAAAAAAA

Wow! It was only a year ago we started this blog in our tiny over-priced, Vancooter apartment. We were bored, sitting in rainy downtown and decided to start the site.

In that small amount of time we've had over 220,000 hits and had referrals from all over the world including notable sites like and NY Magazine & RollingStone.com.

Peoples, labels, and artists alike started reaching out to us.
Arthur Russell's parents were even kind enough to thank us for writing about their son, which was RAD.
We SO never would have thought that something that started so casual, could amount to something that has become quite so fufilling.

And not to get all mushy, but we really do appreciate each and every single one of you guys for being a constant support to us. It is what makes us want to keep sharing new music, and learning about upcoming acts everyday. We love your comments, emails, we love that you call us out on crap that we post -- all of it!

So THANKS, & WE HOPE TO TAKE EVERYTHING JUST A LITTLE BIT FARTHER THIS YEAR! IF you know what we mean, ARRRRROWWWWWWWW.

Love and hugs,

xTHE BEEB

The Beeb Blog Presents: THE LOOK OF THE WEEK 005

(click above to enlarge)
Last week, people took issue with short shorts, and we can't wait to hear a yea or nay on this getup. As he does every week, Darryl of STREETCLASH pops in to share his fashion finds with us for The Beeb Blog's LOOK OF THE WEEK straight from the streets of Berlin.

"Berlin Fashion Week just passed, and I couldn't get a pass. Only ugly boring industry people allowed in these tents. So instead I hung around on the street outside getting drunk and smoking cigarettes and waiting for someone goodlooking to come out. And out came Dimitri, as flamboyant as the day he first came out of the closet. Next year I'm getting in and getting the drinks for free, I swear"

"I'd love to see more penises in films, actually..."

Tracey Ullman is still hilariously relevant. She does dead-on impressions of Dina Lohan and Helen Mirren, not to mention everyone else.

I'd marry Tracey Ullman just to see her do an impersonation of me. (Y'know, during). What, is that weird?

Check out said impressions above from her Showtime series State Of The Union.

(Note: I'm so stoked to be a part of the Beeb Blog. We'll have fun, tell your friends.)

Cosmo Vitelli + Remixes

Cosmo Vitelli started remixing tracks in 1997, and has since ripened with age like a fine bordeaux, or Brad Pitt. I'm looking at you, post-menopausal mums!

He most recently remixed Simian Mobile Disco's "Hotdog" but his last original release was Converted/La Radiateur on his own label, I'm A Cliche Records.

Say what you will, but we think he doesn't get near enough hype as he should. The twangy surf rock guitar in "Converted" gets huge props from us, and the SMD remix isn't bad either.

Check out both below, with a chilled out Quiet Village remix of "Delayer" thrown in for shitz n gigz.
