Everywhere I look, dead Christmas trees. A unique thing I had never seen before moving to Germany is that people just dump the used trees anywhere on the street. No designated pile, no obligations to get it to a dump...
Severed stumps everywhere! So we find it quite fitting to share with you Joakim's edit of one of our favorites, "Dead Eyes Opened" by the Severed Heads. When you hear this song (1984), its def of hard to believe this was 25 years ago!
Check it out below, along with their ultra-high budget video. --Which kind of looks like it was hand-edited by a 3 year old, or the goth girl who sat behind me in my math class, and would just shake her head and mockingly laugh at anything I would attempt to say...Well guess what Aldornia?I've got a blog now!
We just finished watching Decline Of the Western Civilization Part II again, and we were reminded of this little Ozzy gem from way back in his days of glory. We could watch Ozzy try and pour orange juice all day and we would be happy.
Anyway, the effects and lighting in this video are visually stunning. Do you like mad scientists? Do you like werewolves? Maybe you like camera strobing.
No matter, feast your eyes upon the magnificent Metal video classic, and the really high-end quality version of it above we've provided for you above.
**BONUS**
Catch an excerpt from DOTWC Part II below, where Chris Holmes of WASP shows us why he's one hot bitch.
...NO, this isn't home video our weekend -- I know that's what you're thinking, shut it!
The drama in this video is out of hand. Aimee Mann's hair is ridiculous, almost as ridiculous as we look when running a hot bath, burning incense with a glass of red wine in our hand and listening to this.
WHAT?! Ok you were right. It was a white zinfandel.
Here's 'Til Tuesday's "Voice Carry" for our Retrorepost. Their only hit, but a hit no-less!
While it's utter torture to pay attention to anything Jackson related these days, (Latoya AKA Toy-Toy is our personal favorite), this video from the near end of the "Jacksons" era is amazing.
The silhouettes of Toy-Toy's nails add that special seduction, and we haven't seen these kind of expensive special effects since Evil Dead.
Back in 1986 the Gorgeous Ladies Of Wrestling (GLOW) did this rap chalked full of glamour for the opening sequence of their show. They hit the nail on the head when they called themselves gorgeous. Hooooly shit.
Our preference is torn between Aunt Kitty and her whore tigers, and Jackie Stallone who looks like she was really not expecting to have to shoot this. We're sure finally nailed this on her 50th take.
The New Kids On The Block have relaunched their official website, and are planning some major comeback with a tour according to People magazine.
We thinks that shit is gonna be huge. Bigger than Paula's Superbowl performance. Now is the time. Everyone from moms in their 40s, to the American Apparel scenesters are gonna horde to buy a ticket right!?
In honour of this earth-rocking news, we thought we would share a little bit of "Hangin Tough" with everyone. Enjoy. NKOTB - Hangin' Tough (YSI)
**UPDATE**
Danny Wood of NKOTB posted this on his Myspace account, which is funny in itself. "Hello to everyone. Hope all is well and everyone is enjoying the New Year. I wanted to address the rumors of the NKOTB Reunion Tour. There has been no talk of this and you are getting it from source directly. Never say never, and you can't believe everything you read.
On another note my solo record will be released in Australia in March. There are a few new songs on it and I hope you guys will check it out. Thank you so much for your continued support.
Dwood"
A reality show maybe though, we'll wait and see on this one.
**UPDATE #2**
Ooooh, try and be gentle on us Danny, our bodies only hold the capacity for so much hope. Now Danny is saying: "More on NKOTB… Hi to all the New Kids On The Block fans, I wanted to clarify since my first post this morning regarding the NKOTB reunion. I loved being a part of the group, and have always thought "maybe someday we'll get back together" – you just never know when your someday will come. I can guarantee all the fans that if this reunion were to happen, they would hear about it first on www.NKOTB.com."
We haven't done a retro repost for a while now, so heres one now, and we're gonna try and bring them back alot more often.
If you're not familiar with Gary Numan's "M.E.", you may be familiar with the sample Basement Jaxx used from the song for their hit "Where's Your Head At".
The song was, and still is pure 80's cosmic-synth geniusness. Enjoy:
