I never really bought into Kanye West and his giant cranium-filling ego. I think I'd be into loving him a bit more, if he wasn't always doing it for himself. Or if he wasn't as good of friends with Tom Cruise maybe...
Though, I was big into "Jesus Walks", and at least he's trying to do something a bit different, right? So, I will definetly give "Graduation" a listen. It's probably good.
Here are three tracks from the new release-- Have a hear:
Kanye West - The Good Life (feat. T-Pain)
Kanye West - Homecoming (feat. Chris Martin)
Kanye West - Stronger
**BONUS GROSSNESS**

The new Britney Spears "comeback" single just leaked, and surprisingly -- its not half bad. There's another track produced by Ne-Yo that's just embarrassing, so we won't touch that, but we'll check this one out!
It's produced by Danger of "Timbaland & Danger" fame. He's now engaged to Nelly Furtado, and helped make her last album a success etc.
Hiphop producer Scott Storch also claims that Danger was the one, -- not Timbaland, who made the beat for Justin Timberlake's "Cry Me A River" hit.
At any rate, Britney is also rumoured to be opening the MTV Music Video Awards with a performance with the help of creepshow/magician, Criss Angel. It will apparently involve smoke and mirrors.
Not exactly a huge stretch for Britney though, is it?

I had to leave my condo to come to this?
Well, I’m back, but this time I’m with my man
And these women are puttin’ their hands all over his
Yamamoto Kanzai sweater that I bought
And I’m much, much unhappy about that
I’d hate to come down to their level and become a BW
A basic woman
But if they don’t stop it’s gonna get scandalous.
I knew I was lookin' good
I had my Kenneth Cole shoes on,
My Gianni Versace blue leather suit,
My nails were done, and my hair was feirce (Fierce),
I was ridin' in my Cooper's limousine

Stephin Merritt. His songs are often dark, yet upbeat, dry, tongue-in-cheek, synthy, and come in the form of several different projects.
With his most well known being the Magnetic Fields, Merritt has also written an unofficial soundtrack to his friend's novel "A Series Of Unfortunate Events", under The Gothic Archies name. You can find his music in the form of The 6ths, aswell as Future Bible Heroes.
Here are a few of my favorites of his:
The Gothic Archies - This Abyss
Magnetic Fields - Smoke And Mirrors

Thomas Bangalter revealed this photo, along with some secrets about Daft Punk's live show equiptment to mixmag for their August issue.
He lists these 6 things as the workings of their spaceship:1. ABLETON
And last: One live video for good measure, filmed at their London show:
"The show revolves around Ableton Live software on custom made super-computers, which we remotely access and control with Behringer BCR2000 midi controllers."
2. SCREENS
"Next to the ethernet remote computer screens there are four Minimoog Voyagers, the classic analog synthesizers. They're a 30-year old design."
3. MOOGS
"We can mix, shuffle, trigger loops, filter, distort samples, EQ in and out, transpose or destroy and deconstruct synth lines. We keep some surprises on the side too!"
4. VISUALS
"There's a direct connection between our rig and the lights and visuals of the show. The light and video engineers can also add or control layers during the show."
5. SYNTHS
"Inside the pyramid are synthesizers and remote controls connected to the rest of the music equipment and computers, which are in rack-mounted towers off stage."
6. TEAMWORK
"Working the music equipment, lighting and video equipment, and building the pyramid for each show takes around 10 people, including both of us."

Having had one of the biggest number one singles of the 90s with "Groove Is In The Heart", 9 top 10 hits on the US dance charts, and gracing the covers of magazines like I-D, Surface, The Face, Paper, mixmag, and even VOGUE, Lady Miss Kier became one of the 90s' biggest pop icons.
Last week, nightlife fixtures The House Of Venus had the good sense to bring Kier to Vancouver where she performed a sold out show to over 1,000 people, and suprised them with some killer new material, along as some of her biggest hits.
I have to say -- few people can achieve what she has, and are yet still able to deliver a performance as entertaining and high energy as she managed to. I have a hard time imagining many of her fellow 90s chartoppers doing the same.
--Make sure to stay on the lookout for new material from Lady Miss Kier by checking out her MYSPACE.

Lately there has been a huge revival of a sound I remember from my childhood.
When we hear new bands like Crystal Castles, Miami Horror, or Le Castle Vania, its hard to deny where their influences come from.

I was never a huge fan of "Friends", but Lisa Kudrow's performance as Valerie Cherish in the cancelled, yet nominated for an Emmy HBO Series: "The Comeback", is pretty awesome.
Its the kind of show that will make your skin crawl by watching her fuck up constantly, kinda the same way Ricky Gervais sticks his foot in his mouth in "The Office" so horribly.
HBO lists the premise as:Ten years ago she was TV's "It" girl. Now It's a different story. For Valerie Cherish, no price is too high to pay for clinging to the television spotlight. Lisa Kudrow stars as Valerie Cherish, a former B-list sitcom star so desperate to revive her career that she agrees to star in a reality television show called The Comeback.
Below are the first three episodes of the series. Though the show requires some patience and can be challenging at times to watch Valerie make a fool of herself again and again, the series progresses once she starts to have some wins, thats when things get really good.

A seemingly manorexic, coked-up Bowie gives an great interview back on "The Dick Cavett Show" in 1974. The amount of nose rubbing is amazing.
He talks a bit about his hair colour, his fear of flying, and his son you never hear about from a previous marriage, Zowie Bowie, (who if you wanted to see, is currently opening for Third Eye Blind, & performing nightly, every Thurs, Fri, Sat, @ The Red Rock Casino in Vegas,--yikes).
Definitely one of the eccentric, colourful sit downs that helped to shape Bowie as the legend he is now. Its nice to see that above and beyond all the outside stuff, he remains very genuine throughout.

Beyond The Wizard's Sleeve is the type of band that rarely comes along, and is executed so brilliantly. Its kinda what contributes to making me cringe when I heard another shitty band, trying hard to sound like Eddie Vedder, hit number one on the radio.
The band is Erol Alkan's, (AKA co-founder of London club night TRASH, Mustapha 3000) side project, who described their work as sounding like:cruising altitude, the perfect hit, synesthasia, psychotronic evolution, phazers on stun, boil the kettle mother, strange things are happening.
The sound reminds me of what it might feel like to sit in a heroin den in Morocco in the 1960s, if there ever was such a place.

What ever happened to Zoot Woman?
It still surprises me, that while their sound is becoming so hot with other bands right now, few people know about them, or either of their last two albums at all.
After all, Stuart Price AKA Les Rythmes Digitales, Paper Faces, Man With Guitar, Thin White Duke, and Jacques Lu Cont, -- has been producing all your favorite mainstream #1 hits, like Madonna's entire last album "Confessions On A Dancefloor", aswell as songs for Missy, Gwen, & The Killers.

It started out that I was full-on rooting for Lil' Kim in the baddest-bitch-battle, and I still love her to death. That is, when she's not out transforming herself into Jocelyn Van Wildenstien,

Last week, a few friends and I (Jeremy, Dawn, & Bazz) had the pleasure of trekking down to Seattle for the weekend to catch Daft Punk play WaMu Theatre. The show was amazing, and just rammed full of people. There was alot of "haircuts", full print, and scarf action going on, and people were losing their shit. Some dude offered to blow Vicks nasal spray in my eyes.
Aside from the obvious, Daft Punk have mastered their performance art. The lights and visuals were done so well, and the costume change involving the sequenced orange beams towards the end, blew my mind.
Half the show was down from Vancouver, which made we wonder why they had skipped it.
I guess they made up for it though by confessing their love for Bryan Adams, which was weird...
At any rate, here are two of my favorite live mixes they did, ripped straight from the board. Check it out:
