Don't forget! Our 3rd installment of the bi-weekly MIXTAPE Wednesday remix/edit/mash extravaganza is this coming week, so make sure to submit your stuff, pronto!
We received some really nice mail from a Dublin band, The Dying Seconds a few months back, but unfortunately we had an onslaught of mail at the time. It's been in our brain-bank to post this for a while, so here you guys go.
Some really nice Arcade Fire/m83-esque sounding pop straight from our inbox! You can also check out their Myspace page HERE.
Our lovely friends over at NY Mag's Entertainment Vulture just gave us a nice mention in reference to our The B-52s - Funplex (Peaches Pleasure Seeker Remix) post. (See Below)
Check it out, along with what they have to say about a few other new tunes HERE.
We're being very brave by posting this updated photo of The B-52s now. Ageing is never fun. Although I know of some hair commercials with style-goddessDiane Keaton that would tell us different.
Arguably you could say that they still do seem to have their fingers on the pulse of things though, calling on people like CSS and Peaches to remix their latest single "Funplex". They also have seemed to have hired a Photoshop retoucher who's day job is working as an animator on Horton Hears a Who! 2.
Everyone is up in arms about remaking ROBOCOP, but we love this idea! It reminds us of bad Nintendo games and good Macdonald's Happy Meals. Shit, come to think of it we want like an airbrushed version of that Nintendo game, but on a t-shirt really bad.
Anyway, this isn't some elaborate fabricated lie from us like usual, --theres actual proof as MGM has released their possible plans to develope several new projects HERE. (via AICN)
"MGM is planning an exciting fall and winter release schedule. In partnership with Sony Pictures Entertainment, MGM will bring new installments of two of its tentpole franchises -- the new James Bond movie QUANTUM OF SOLACE and Steve Martin in PINK PANTHER 2. MGM will also release United Artists' international thriller VALKYRIE, starring Tom Cruise on October 3. With the appointment of Parent, MGM will enter its new phase of evolution by focusing on its major movie franchises highlighted by JAMES BOND and PINK PANTHER sequels, THE HOBBIT, THOMAS CROWN AFFAIR 2, THE OUTER LIMITS, ROBOCOP, DEATH WISH and FAME, among others."
AICN makes a really great point though by saying that they are getting their panties in a twist because ROBOCOP kept losing it's awesome edge as the sequels progressed, so where does that leave us with sensorship and watering down things in 2009? Heres a bit of that edge in all amazing its glory:
One of the most hyped and fastest growing groups at the moment is Hercules And Love Affair. We're always resistant to listen to anything that is talked about to death, because by the time we get around to it, we're already sick of it (kind of why we never saw Titanic). But, we're glad we heard these guys eventually, and we too are in love with Hercules And Love Affair.
Okay, we were Googling pictures for this post about Baby Oilver's new track, and this is the picture that came up for "Shot Caller".
What kind of sick fuck puts their animal in something like this? The light in that dog's eyes is fading fast and they're saying "please just end my life." It's no mystery now why these dogs get a violent reputation. We would be in that same boat.
Anyway, here is the Bronx's Baby Oilver and "Shot Caller". And no --its not featuring Lil' Troy.
After working along-side acts such as Girl Talk, The Glimmers, Simian Mobile Disco, Busy P, Cut Copy, The Gossip, Alan Braxe, Cazals, Data, TEPR, and Crookers to create mixes consisting of each artists/acts own submissions, its seemed only natural that the Buffetlibre DJs would ask your very own, The Beeb Blog to contribute next to their Verbena Rewind 2 Mix spectacular.
The mix is finally complete and is chalked full of expensive retro-pleasures including our contribution of Canadian disco star Lime's "Guilty Of Love".
Have a listen to the BuffetLibre's Verbena Rewind 2 Mix below, and if you would like The Beeb Blog to be a part of your next project, mix, or party -- you can let us know @ BeebBlog@Gmail.com. We've got alot to give!

We were really in love with the Shocking Pinks' "Smoke Screen (12" & A Bit More By The Glimmers)" track, and now we're heading down the same path with the new EP, Emily.
Have a hear to the "Dressed To Please (Nathan Fake Remix)" from the new release to see what we're talking about. The Echospace version is great aswell, so be sure to buy the EP if you're a fan:
As a follow-up to our earlier post, we're going to let you guys weigh in on this one:
We're only providing a non-downloadable, streaming version via Imeem, because frankly, Madonna and her people scare the shit out of us.
However, we will say that the onlt thing HARD about the photoshoot for her upcoming album up there, is how hard she seems to be biting much of a certain female electro-raptress' recent steez.
Click play below to play a streaming preview (not downloadable) "4 Minutes (To Save The World)" produced by Timbaland.
DAZED AND CONFUSED has done a 70 page "spread" dedicated to Madge for their new issue.
We think its so cool that they went with that whole birthday candles vibe, and honoured her age by the number pages in the article. Very smart.
We really hope Madonna raps on this new song with Justin. "I do yoga and pilates and the room is full of hotties, and I'm checkin' out the bawdys..." Best female rapper in the game???? Just posing the question here guys... real tawk
When marketing your image resorts to making you into a cartoon to hide the real state of things, it might be time to call it quits. That pretty much is how things add up for us when we watch Britney's new video for "Break The Ice".
On one hand, it's nice to know that her record label respects the public and world enough not to put them through another video of her on her stipper pole, in a divebar set built at the Millenium Dance Studios (which we love hearing about.) On the other hand, would really love to shave her head and embrace the freq really she is. That would be rad. Can you imagine if she went for like a total Suburbia gutter-punk look?! Yeah, yeah and now that Madonna just did the cover of DAZED AND CONFUSED, maybe Britney should.
Hooo chile, thanks for all the great submissions this week. We're finally sorted after relocating and are back on the ball. Here are the reader/artist submitted remixes, edits, and mashes we got this week to share with you all for our second edition of MIXTAPE WEDNESDAY on The Beeb Blog. Enjoy!
Keep your stuff coming, we want to hear from you! (BeebBlog@Gmail.com) The Beeb Blog
The Crystal Castles are set to release their first full-length album which consists of many of their songs from over the past two years. One "new" song which is featured is "Vanished", which in a sense is a Crystal Castles remix of Van She's "Sex City".
We have a weakness for female rappers, and when the rapper in question happens to be a smoking, stylish, lezzie who will threaten to fuck your dad, --you just have to share once you stop laughing.
Have a listen to Jane Bang's "UNtame" track, & watch the brand new video for it below. You can also stalk her on Myspace HERE if you like.
